Today we learned about the expectations at PVJH and how things work here in regards to how the school routines are done. We also played a Skittles game to get to know each other.

Today we went to the library to check out our first IR books. We played a game of Would You Rather on Kahoot!, and then learned about class routines. Students were instroduced to their Independent Reading expectations, and given their first assignment to complete a IR Explanation/Success Plan with their parents. This assignment is due on Monday, 8/28.

- Finished filling our LA binders

- Took a grammar pre-test
- Gave examples of the passion board assignment
- Signed up for when students are completing this assignment
- Began thinking of what we will do for the assignment
- Played Kahoot! to review routines in class

- Took a words pre-test over nouns
- Gave example of the impromptu speech assignment
- Signed up for when students are completing this assignment

- Gave a book share example
- Took questions
- Library Breakout! (Game to learn about important features of our library.)
Friday, September 1st, 2017
- Students reviewed classroom routines with Kahoot! again.
- Students took their verbs words pre-test.
- Students were introduced to their informative speech assignment, and began brainstorming for possible topics using the MBAEA databases.
- You will need the topic sheet, and one topic picked for Wednesday, 9/6.
Tuesday, September 5th, 2017
- Students wrote down their weekly words for the week (adversary, aplomb, and apprehensive).
- Students took their adjective words pre-test.
- Students read the article, "Fighting Fake News" and began learning about the 3 Big Questions.
Wednesday, September 6th, 2017
- Students were explained how they will be graded for their Informational Speech Assignments
- Students started their Noodletools projects and research for their informational speeches
- Students were called to see Mrs. V to get graded for their topic worksheet and report their chosen topic
- Began research at this time
- Ended with "Fighting Fake News" and Big Questions

- Students began the first round of book shares

- Students had time in class to research their topic
- Students finished learning about the Big Questions when reading non-fiction, and applied them to their own resources
- Students were informed about MAP testing on Monday and Tuesday
